Pulao Rice indian Recipe
here's a recipe for Pulao rice, a popular Indian dish:
Ingredients:
- 1 cup Basmati rice, rinsed and soaked in water for 30 minutes
- 2 tablespoons ghee or oil
- 1 bay leaf
- 4 green cardamom pods
- 4 cloves
- 1 cinnamon stick
- 1 medium-sized onion, sliced
- 1 teaspoon grated ginger
- 1 teaspoon minced garlic
- 1 small tomato, chopped
- 1/4 teaspoon turmeric powder
- 1/2 teaspoon cumin powder
- 1/2 teaspoon coriander powder
- 1/2 teaspoon garam masala powder
- Salt, to taste
- 2 cups water
- 1/4 cup chopped fresh cilantro (optional)
Instructions:
- Heat ghee or oil in a heavy-bottomed pan over medium heat. Add the bay leaf, cardamom, cloves, and cinnamon stick. Fry for a few seconds until fragrant.
- Add sliced onion and fry until golden brown.
- Add grated ginger and minced garlic. Fry for 1-2 minutes until the raw smell goes away.
- Add chopped tomato, turmeric powder, cumin powder, coriander powder, garam masala powder, and salt. Stir and cook for 3-4 minutes until the tomato is soft and the spices are fragrant.
- Drain the soaked rice and add it to the pan. Stir to coat the rice with the spice mixture.
- Add 2 cups of water and bring it to a boil.
- Lower the heat to a simmer and cover the pan with a tight-fitting lid. Cook for 15-20 minutes until the rice is fully cooked and the water is absorbed.
- Turn off the heat and let the rice sit covered for 5-10 minutes.
- Fluff the rice with a fork and garnish with chopped cilantro (if using).
Your Pulao rice is now ready to serve. Enjoy!
